DO WE DESIRE LIFE?

We wake up daily to behold the blessings of our parents and well-wishers to live long and prosper to good old age.

We have mastered the prayers that the wish takes a prime in our prayer requests.

Despite these wishes, death is taking a toll on mankind with no regard to their age!

Does that mean prayers ain't answered anymore?

If NO, why are people dying, and if YES, why do we keep praying?

Our forebears lived to their good old age. Why is our generation beholding untimely death?

A look at the list of World Health Organization (WHO)  deadly diseases facing mankind will no doubt sick any mortal being.

With all our geniuses and discoveries, we are yet to save mankind from the agony of terminal diseases and untimely death.

Unfortunately, many people are at risk of undiagnosed diseases because of poor infrastructure and financial incapacity for checkups. 

When the disease reaches its terminal, it strikes to rip families and society of their bundle of joy.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one. It killed 3.23m population in 2019. (WHO, 2024)

And what is the basic causal factor? 

Air pollution. 

Nigeria is ranked poorly in the Air Quality Index. It ranks below the WHO recommendation and also lists many Nigerian cities as dead zonye in Air Quality.

How do we overcome COPD in all of these?

By prayers? Well, it works! However, we'd be better if we stopped daring God.

If we care to live life in abundance that we desire, it is important that we jointly demand air quality through legislation and enforcement, policy advocacy, public enlightenment, risk identification, and management.

Trees also promise fresh air and pollution absorption, only if we can conserve, plant, and or protect them. Perhaps the cheapest and safest mechanism to achieve a healthy life for all. 

I put it to you, what can you do to save yourself and families from diseases?
