Disaster is as old as history...
Disaster is as old as history...
Disaster is as old as history. Nations of the world have had their fair share in tune of billions (dollars) in addition to health and environmental consequences that could last generations.
Consequently, the understanding of the need to nip disasters in the bud has produced conventions and frameworks (Hyogo 2005, Sendai 2015) to galvanise human and material resources necessary to make our planet safer for all. Hurricane, earthquake, flood, drought, Tornado, landslide, wildfire, among others are not friends of humanity.
Today 13th October is another day to remind ourselves the need to reduce disaster in all capacities available to us including:
🌍 Understanding the risk present in our environment in a bid to mitigate, cope with, prepare for, response to and recover from it.
🌍 Strengthen disaster risk governance in all capacity available to us
🌍 Inventing in disaster risk by transiting to green economy, financing green projects and aiding the underprivileged to overcome disaster risk.
🌍 Enhance disaster preparedness for effective response necessary to aid recovery and build back better if it strikes.
Dear all,
Disaster is not a respecter of anyone or status. In as much as we live in same planet Earth, we are all vulnerable. This make our collective response to disaster risk pertinent.
Early warning is adjudged a veritable mechanism to mitigate and effectively respond to disaster risk. Get yourself informed and equipped with necessary knowledge to make your contribution to DRR.
