If you have ever visited refugee...
If you have ever visited refugee...
If you have ever visited refugee/Internally displaced persons camps, you'd agree with me that it isn't a good place for humans to dwell.
Why the construction of these obnoxious camps for human dwellings in the first place?
The answer is not far from the multiplicity of hazards that are fast becoming defining features of our habitat (Planet earth), several of which are anthropogenic in nature (humanly constructed).
Flood isn't such a terrible event but our actions and inactions in mitigation and preparedness makes it disastrous. Building on flood plain, waste disposal on drainages, non and I'll construction of drainages, deforestation among others are causal factors hence become crimes against humanity.
In the parlance of Stephen FALETI (PhD), University of Ibadan, "Human is the only creature that excrete on his food plate". In other words, severals of the hazards that set humanity on edge are constructed by human, either deliberately or otherwise.
Can we keep doing the same thing and expect different results? I doubt!
Every human is a project and instrument to make the planet safer for everyone. The project of environmental sustainability is our collective responsibility and so we need to heed the call before the planet call heeds us.
