"The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), an agency of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, has predicted more devastating floods from the end of August to early October in some states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)" Now that the early warning has been issued, what are we doing individually and collectively to avert the disastrous consequences? Flood is a natural event that human cannot stop but we can reduce its negative consequences by our collective efforts such as regular maintenance of drainages and avoidance of building on flood plains. Remember, water will always have its way! It is however safe to be proactive in preventing and preparing for the event than reacting after it occurred. If you have ever being to IDP camps, you'd agree with me that no such place like your home. Hence the reason Whole Planet Initiative is imploring us to avoid dumping of refuse on drainages, maintain it for its purpose and keep our environment clean to aid free flow of water (flood) to avoid flood consequences that have landed millions in IDPs.
