Mother Wangari Maathai asserts "You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them, and you help them understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect them." Many of the policies and programmes of Government and Institutions sumasault and lack effectiveness due to inadequate awareness and orientation. Same lapse is responsible for environmental degradation that threatens biodiversity with grievous implications on human existence. Whole Planet Initiative is motivated by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe concern that "There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action" particularly of human-environment interactions. This further informed a deep concern of our Advocacy Project which aims to replace ignorance with knowledge substantial to inform a sustainable environmental management practices. WPI is resolute in her commitment to reaching out to communities on climate change challenges, causes, effects and how to build resilience. Human society would be relieved of diseases if we priotise environmental sanitation. Flooding is a major hazard plaguing people in Nigeria. Government and institutions efforts in policies and projects are evident but lacks effectiveness as citizens remain ignorant and uninformed. Whole Planet Initiative is committed to replacing ignorance with knowledge to effect a sustainable lifestyle and collective environmental responsibility to safe the present generation from impending disaster and to bequeath a safer earth planet to the future generations.
