Climate emergencies are fast becoming abnormal norms that our generation will have to contend with. Water scarcity, low farm yield, scorching Sun, patternless seasons, low human and material productivity, flood, windstorm, food shortage, disease vectors proliferation, land degradation, high heat waves, ocean overflow, among others are some of the defining attributes of climate challenges militating mankind.
A few years back, the climate was seen as a joke but now, even the most unlettered will confidently recount the heats of the menace.
What then do we do?
Where do we go?
How do we safeguard the planet from the scourge of climate change?
Yesterday was a good time to take action. Today is just the best time to mitigate climate change. Tomorrow may be too late.
Today, I joined selected farmers and civil society organizations in Oyo State to chart a good course for climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience building necessary to secure the planet for the present and bequeath it green to the coming generations.
A big thanks to Youth for Agro- ecological Restoration Network (YARN) for leading the initiative with the support of New Hope and Ushaidi from Kenya.
Distinguished,
The issue of climate change is too wide and general to be left for the government to solve, you and I have roles to play particularly in land management and resources use. Please be responsive and responsible on this Clarion Call.
Sincerely,
