The Hope of
Nutrition in the Coming Years.
I have visited my fruit
vendor several times in recent times for oranges which she doesn't have. She said
and I quote " Osan ti loo, Gboko lo wa nita. Literarily means Not the
season for orange, only Gboko is in the market." The Gboko she meant are
the oranges produced in Benue which are mostly hybrid. Come to think of it.
Does that mean if Benue didn't grow oranges, we wouldn't have orange fruit for
Nigerians even at the exorbitant price it's sold? Fruit is a necessary
commodity for everyone across ages. With the rise in the price of these
essential commodities, what is the hope of nutrition for us and our children? Aside
from the nutrients it supplies to the body, it boosts body immunity that guards
against diseases.
Now that the money at
hand isn't enough for major food items, how do we avail ourselves of fruits
that our body needs? We'd do ourselves a great favor by planting even if it's
just one tree in our compound. We stand a great benefit in this little gesture.
Trust me, you'd be glad you did.
Whole Planet Initiative has hybrid seedlings of oranges and other fruits for you at affordable prices.
Just get in touch. I'm Adebukola Margaret. Let's team up to plant fruit trees
in our premises and guide against malnutrition and hunger in the coming years.
